R&B artist, Drake, won big at the MTV Woodie awards last night at the annual event that honors the best in more unique genres of music at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
Drake won the top award of the night, Woodie of the Year, which goes to the top artist of this year, Billboard reported.
Instead of Drake accepting the award, Lil' Wayne, the founder of the label that Drake works for, Young Money Records, stunned audiences by performing and accepting the award in Drake's honor. Wayne even dropped a verse from one of his very early singles "A Milli" that was released back in 2008.
Other winners at the awards included The 1975, winning best new artist, Ed Sheeran taking home the Woodie for performing and Chance the Rapper won for best video for "Everybody's Something," MTV reported.
Even though the awards took place yesterday, the show will be airing on Sunday on MTV. The 1975, Childish Gambino, Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea all took the stage and performed during the award show.
