Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, will remarry in honor of the legalization of gay marriage.
WENN reports that John and Furnish will renew their vows in celebration of the legislation of gay marriage in the UK.
Many celebrities already in a civil union will plan to use their fame to bring attention to the ruling by renewing their vows, as well.
Furnish confirmed the news to Attitude magazine.
"Elton and I will marry - as a high-profile couple, we feel it is our duty to do it, to make sure that everyone knows that this is something that many gay men living in this country never dreamed would happen," Furnish said.
John and Furnish have been together for over 20 years and have two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
Furnish told the Las Vegas Review Journal that he and John will marry in May at an English registry office.
Despite their love for huge parties, Furnish explained that instead of a big wedding celebration, they will have their two sons and only a few close friends in attendance.
John and Furnish entered a civil union in December 2005, and became the first gay couple in the UK to do so.
"Elton and I both think there is a massive difference between calling someone your 'partner' and calling them your 'husband,'" Furnish said.
