The first trailer has been released for the anticipated re-make of the classical musical, Annie, starring Quvenzhane Wallis in the title role.
According to Us Weekly, this modernized version of Annie will have a similar storyline as the original, with a little bit of a twist.
It will star orphan Annie (Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis) who meets billionaire mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks (Jamie Foxx). Stacks wants to look good while running for mayor so he takes Anne in, hoping that it will better his campaign.
Cameron Diaz takes on the role as the cruel owner of Annie’s orphanage, Miss Hannigan. The film will also co-star Bobby Canavale and Bridesmaids actress Rose Byrne.
The film is produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith and directed by Will Gluck.
The music has been updated as well, with Jay Z putting his own twist on classics from the original, such as “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Annie will be out in theaters on Christmas Day.
