Former Jets QB Mark Sanchez signs with Eagles (Reports)

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly signed former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez after he passed a physical. The movie comes a week after the Jets released Sanchez and signed former Eagles QB Michael Vick.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Fox Sports’ Mike Garafolo reported the news on Twitter. USA Today notes that the Eagles have not officially announced the deal yet and financial terms are not available.

The Eagles needed to make the deal after Vick left to sign with the Jets in order to have a backup QB on the roster with some experience. After the Jets made that deal, they made Sanchez available by releasing him. The Jets will have second-year QB Geno Smith as a starter.

Sanchez is expected to be the backup for Nick Foles in Philadelphia. Foles lead the team to an NFC East title last season after replacing an injured Vick.

After starting off strong with two-straight AFC title game appearances, Sanchez struggled with the Jets. Still, the 27-year-old does have a 33-29 record as a starter.
