Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested on Sunday evening in Carmel, Ind.
According to WishTV.com, Hamilton County Jail officials and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the 54-year-old’s arrest.
Irsay was pulled over by police and booked on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.
ESPN noted that the owner tweeted on Oct. 21, 2013, that he hadn't had a drink in more than 15 years. However, longtime writer for the Indianapolis Star, Bob Kravitz, said that Irsay had been struggling recently.
Bond was set at $22,500 and he is expected to be out by Monday afternoon.
The Indianapolis Colts have been in Irsay’s family since its days in Baltimore, when his father Robert had control of the team. After he suffered a stroke and passed away, Irsay got involved in a legal battle with his stepmother over control and eventually became the youngest owner of an NFL team at the age of 37.
