Oscar winner Jane Fonda will be reuniting with her 9 to 5 co-star Lily Tomlin for Grace and Frankie, a comedy series that will be available on Netflix. The project comes from Friends creator Marta Kauffman.
The 13-episode series starts off with rivals Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) getting the shocking news that their husbands love each other and are leaving them. Now, they find out that their lives will be connected in ways they never hoped for.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show from Skydance Productions will premiere in 2015. Kauffman co-created the show with Howard J. Morris (According to Jim, sullivan & Sons). Paula Weinstein, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will join the stars and creators as executive producers.
Tomlin hinted at the project earlier this month at the Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, Mich. “Netflix has bought a series Jane Fonda and me are going to do,” she told MLive.com. “Let's see who gets top billing.”
Grace and Frankie is the latest Netflix original series. House of Cards is the streaming service’s flagship series, but it is also home to Orange is the New Black, Hemlock Grove, the latest season of Arrested Development and the last season of The Killing.
