It was announced over the weekend that anchor Josh Elliott is leaving ABC’s Good Morning America and Amy Robach is set to replace him. After Elliott and the network could not come to a salary agreement, Elliott decided to leave.
According to the New York Daily News, it was reported that Elliot was asking for a $10 million per year salary and while ABC made a counter-offer of $5 million per year, it just simply wasn’t enough. Elliott’s current salary is just $1 million a year.
According to KABC, ABC News President Ben Sherwood said in a statement Sunday, “In good faith, we worked hard to close a significant gap between our generous offer and his expectations. In the end, Josh felt he deserved a different deal and so he chose a new path.”
It was confirmed that Elliott has accepted a position with NBC Sports. His replacement, Amy Robach, will start her co-hosting responsibilities on GMA immediately. Robach has appeared on the show several times filling in for hosts.
