Infamous Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is letting his creativity flow into writing children’s books.
People reports that Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will be publishing two of Richards’ books. The titles of the books are Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar. Richards,70, got the inspiration to write the story from his grandfather who played the jazz guitar. Being around his grandfather motivated Richards to follow in the same footsteps.
"I have just become a grandfather for the fifth time, so I know what I’m talking about," said Richards. "The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me."
The making of the children’s book is a family affair as his daughter Theodora Dupree Richards will be helping and contributing. She will be the illustrator of the upcoming books.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Theodora is excited to venture into the relationship between her father and grandfather.
“To be able to explore my father’s relationship with his grandfather was a gift in itself,” she said. “The things that I’ve learnt during this whole process have just been life affirming.”
Gus & Me is set to be released on September 9.
