Liza Minnelli is speaking out about Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres’ comments about her during Sunday’s broadcast, admitting she isn’t happy.
The legendary actress and singer caught up with TMZ’s cameras and made it known she thinks DeGeneres crashed and burned with the “drag queen” joke.
"I think she thought it would be funny, but she never stopped after she said it and said, 'My friend Liza Minnelli.’ So I think it went a little astray on her,” she told the cameraman on Monday night while walking into Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif.
However, Minnelli proved there are no hard feelings and followed up her comment with, "I don't think she meant any harm at all.” She even called the syndicated daytime talk show host “a wonderful lady."
The joke Minnelli was referring to is DeGeneres saying she’s "the best Liza Minnelli impersonator I’ve ever seen,” adding, “Good job, sir.” For years, drag queens have based their persona off of Minnelli.
