Metallica performs a new song during their concert in Colombia.
Rolling Stone magazine reports that during their concert in Bogota, Colombia on Sunday, Metallica debuted a never before heard song.
The eight minute track, entitled "The Lords of Summer," is their first new work sing the release of their EP, Beyond Magnetic, in 2012. The same EP featured outtakes of songs from their 2008 LP, Death Magnetic.
The concert is a part of their Metallica By Request tour, which takes them through South America, Canada, and Europe.
NME reports that the set list is chosen by the fans.
Their stop in Bogota was the first in their time in South America. They will next appear in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Paraguay throughout the month of March.
Band member Lars Ulrich spoke to Rolling Stone about how good it feels to perform for their fans, as well as gain inspiration for future work.
"We like to leave the studio and get out and be inspired by playing some shows," Ulrich said. "So getting out and playing is a vital part of writing and creating."
When asked about a new album, band member Kirk Hammett expressed his excitement to start working on it.
"I'm F--king up for it, man," Hammett said.
