Michael B. Jordan says he expected blacklash over 'Fantastic Four' role (Video)

By Shaunice Conyers,

Actor Michael B. Jordan says that he expected a lot of backlash to come against him due to his casting in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

According to The Wrap, Jordan is playing a character that has always been depicted as a white male in comic books but that doesn't seem to matter to Jordan. Jordan mentions, “I grew up a comic book guy, I read comic books as a kid growing up, and the Fantastic Four/Human Torch is one of my favorite characters so I'm going to give it my everything."

E! Online reports how during a press conference for Fruitvale Station, Jordan spoke about the criticism over his role as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Jordan said, "You kinda know going into it that people are used to seeing something one way, it's a continuity thing more than anything." The Fantastic Four film has been in the works for the last five years. Besides Jordan the rest of the cast includes Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2015.
