Acclaimed Italian director Paolo Sorrentino is hoping to build on the success of his latest film, The Great Beauty, by taking on his second English-language project. Two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine will star in the new film.

Variety reports that after he win the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film on Sunday, Sorrentino spoke of restarting his career with a “small, intimate movie.” He told La Repubblica that he has cast Caine in the film, which will start shooting in May.

Sorrentino wrote the film and it will be produced by Nicola Giuliano and Francesca Cima of Indigo Films. Mediaset/Medusa will release it in Italy later this year.

According to The Guardian, this will only be Sorrentino’s second movie in English. He previously worked with Sean Penn on the goth rocker film This Must Be The Place in 2011.

The rest of the cast is still unknown. Sorrentino typically works with Toni Servillo, who starred in The Great Beauty.

As for Caine, the 80-year-old was recently seen in Now You See Me and Last Love. He will appear in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Interstellar, later this year.
