Nick Cannon promotes 'White People Party Music' in whiteface alter ego, Connor Smallnut

By Gina DiFalco,

Nick Cannon is stirring some controversy with a new Instagram post of himself in whiteface. He posted it on Monday to promote his new album White People Party Music.

“It's official... I'm White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC#Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong#FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating#RacialDraft "Bro I got drafted!!" he wrote as a caption.

Cannon told Us Weekly about his reasoning behind the album name and his unconventional way of promoting it, "You go to a party and white people are having more fun than anybody.”

He added, "They know how to have a good time! I could have named the album Purple People Party Music and you'd still get the same album, but it was just one of those things. You know, you deal with things like race, and people get uptight, so why not?"

Cannon went on to say that he thought of the name while DJing, as he named one of “crates” White People Party Music and it kind of just stuck. "It's hilarious -- when I came up with that title, I thought I have to name my album that. I just kind of stuck with it from there,” he said.

Mariah Carey’s husband has been active on Twitter, retweeting what fans and naysayers have to say about his alter-ego, Connor Smallnut.

He tweeted on Monday, “Damn I didn't know it was going to be this hard being White! ... I'm exhausted with all this "privilege" LOL #WhitePeopleProblems.”

After retweeting some of the backlash and support, he wrote, “I love this conversation though. It’s showing a lot of people’s true colors… #punintended #wppm woooo!!!”
