Pharrell Williams’ Vivienne Westwood hat may have gotten all the attention at the Grammys earlier this year, but Adidas did notice that he wore the brand’s famous Firebird jacket. Now, the singer/producer is teaming up with Adidas to design apparel.
“[It’s] an amazing opportunity to work with creative people who understand where I’m coming from and respect my taste while having access to great technology and an amazing brand history,” Williams told WWD.
The “Happy” singer is just the latest to sign a deal with Adidas, as Raf Simons, Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens are also working on new products for the brand’s summer Adidas Originals line.
Williams’ popularity has really exploded since “Happy,” “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines” debuted last year. He’s currently on the charts with his solo album G I R L.
All that success has allowed him to collaborate with other fashion brands. Global Grind notes that he’s already announced partnerships with G-Star and Uniqlo, as well as a fragrance with Comme des Garçons.
