Pharrell Williams tops the UK albums chart for the first time with his solo album G I R L.

NME reports that Pharrell Williams' second solo studio album, G I R L, hit No. 1 on the UK albums chart.

Williams' first solo album, In My Mind only managed to peak at No. 7 on the UK chart. He also never topped the chart when working with N.E.R.D, who released four studio albums as a group.

His single "Happy" dropped to No. 2 on the UK singles chart after being knocked down from the No. 1 spot by Route 94 and their hit "My Love."

According to NEWS.com, Williams performed for a crowd of 45,000 at the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne for the Future Music Festival.

The festival took place Sunday, and featured artists like Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis, Deadmau5, Pheonix, Cut Copy, and Rudimental.

Williams performed a 30 minute DJ set, playing some of his greatest hits including N.E.R.D. songs "Lapdance" and "She Wants to Move." He played his solo hit "Frontin'," as well as songs he wrote for others like Nelly's "Hot in Herre," Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful," and Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl." He also played his most recent collaborations "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky," and ended the set with his hit "Happy."
