Rihanna is going to be receiving an icon award from the fashion industry this year. The "We Found Love" singer will be honored with the CFDA award.
The Council of Fashion Designers of American, Inc. announced on Monday that Rihanna would be honored with the award at the June 2 event in New York City, Billboard reported.
The award is given to celebrities that really push the boundaries of fashion in the pop culture realm. Rihanna has pushed the boundaries of fashion forward in the past year alone with her outfits both on and off the stage.
"We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory," CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said of the award, the Daily Mail reported.
The 2014 awards will be held at the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.
Rihanna is about to launch a three-stop tour with Eminem this summer. The tour will be arriving in New York, Detroit and Los Angeles.
