Universal Pictures announced on Monday that Avatar star Sam Worthington and House of Cards' Robin Wright have joined the cast of Everest.
The two talented actors will portray characters from real life, disastrous events that took place at the famous mountain.
Deadline, who first reported the casting news, stated that Wright and Worthington will join the previously cast Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Watson and John Henderson for the mountain-climbing film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Wright has been cast to play Peach, Brolin's character's wife, while Worthington will play mountain scaling expert Guy Cotter.
The film’s main plot will be the true story of two expeditions to Mount Everest which both ended in disaster due to fierce snow storms.
The original release date for the film was in Feb. 2015 but has recently been delayed until Sept. 2015.
The film is being helmed by Contraband director Baltasar Kormákur and is shooting in Nepal. Everest is being produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Brian Oliver, Tyler Thompson and Nicky Kentish Barnes.
