Many agreed with Gellar’s statement, although Kardashian’s best friend, Jonathan Cheban, responded to her tweet by saying, “Do u matter?”
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour defended her decision to put Kardashian and West on the cover. “As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort,” said Wintour.
She went on to rave about the couple and why she believed they were perfect to grace the cover of magazine.
"Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world's spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that," said Wintour.
Despite the controversy that has erupted with the cover, People reports that Kardashian was thrilled to be on the cover. She tweeted about her appreciation of having the opportunity of being featured, calling it a “dream come true.”
