During an interview with HuffPost Entertainment, Sarah Michelle Gellar was reminded that March 5 marked the 15th anniversary of the star’s film Cruel Intentions.
Gellar, who was originally there to promote her work with Unilever Project Sunlight, reminisced on the 15-year-old flick, which also starred Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon.
“Of all my movies, my two best film experiences were, hands down, Cruel Intentions and The Grudge,” Gellar said according to Huff Post Celeb. “Cruel Intentions was, you know, we just knew we were making something that was so different and we were all so passionate and so excited. And we were all friends! It was just such a great time making that and letting it go as far as it did.”
The film was seen as an instant pop culture classic during its release in 1999. However, the 36-year-old actress says that she is still shocked by the audience’s love of the movie. She explained how proud she was of the film and especially the fans of the film saying that there are still people who quote lines from the movie to her, which she finds “amazing.”
When she was asked whether or not she still spent time with the now ex-couple Phillippe and Witherspoon, Gellar joked, “Oh yeah, all the time! Because Ryan and Reese spend a lot of time together…”
Gellar also admitted that she does catch up with her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star David Boreanaz on occasion. However, when the two do catch up it’s not usually a planned event.
“It’s actually funny, for some reason we always wind up on vacation at the same time and in the same place and it has been happening for years, it’s the weirdest!” Gellar said. “It can be the same hotel, a different hotel, a different state, but we always run into each other.”
