'Sharknado' sequel premiere date announced, Perez Hilton to make appearance

The sequel television audiences have been waiting for has been given a premiere date. SyFy’s Sharknado 2: The Second One will premiere on Thursday, July 31 at 9 p.m.

The Second One brings the action from Los Angeles to New York, where a new tornado full of sharks will attack. Tara Reid and Ian Ziering are both coming back to do battle with whatever sharks are thrown at them. Vivica A. Fox, Kelly Osbourne, Andy Dick, Judd Hirsch and Judah Friedlander will round out the cast. Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath also has a role as Ziering’s brother-in-law.

The Hollywood Reporter, which first confirmed the official air date, added that celebrity blogger Perez Hilton will also be making an appearance. Biz Markie ; Sandra Denton of Salt-N-Pepa; Robert Klein; and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle have also been recruited for cameos.

The Second One is currently in production.

Last summer, Sharknado caused a Twitter firestorm, with some celebrities even joining in on the fun. However, the Asylum B-movie’s first airing only attracted 1.4 million viewers. A repeat airing did reach 2.1 million viewers, though.
