Siegfried & Roy mourn the loss of their White Tiger Montecore

Las Vegas entertainers Siegfried & Roy’s white tiger Montecore has passed away at the age of 17

People reported that Montecore is the tiger that left Roy Horn disabled. In 2003 Horn was hurt during a live performance at the Siegfried & Roy show at The Mirage hotel-casino.

Horn revealed that the 380 pound tiger did not attack him but was trying to save his life. About the incident 69-year-old Horn says he passed out, and Montecore picked up by the neck to get him the attention he needed. As a result Horn lost 25 percent of his brain, and went “code blue” a total of three times.

E! Online added that Montecore died on March 19 due to a short illness.

In response to Montecore’s abrupt death Horn released a statement.

“The world has lost one of its most majestic creatures and I have lost a brother," said Horn. "I will forever believe it was his concern for my safety and well-being that caused him to act as he did on that night long ago. We spent many hours together and he never failed to bring me great joy and wonderment. It was my great honor to be beside him at the end. He is now playing with his siblings in white tiger heaven."
