Spotify has great news for college students who don’t want to waste space on their computer with music files. The streaming music service is offering its Spotify Premium at half the price for college students.
The service usually costs $9.99 a month, but if you are a U.S. college student, you can sign up for $4.99, Spotify said Tuesday, reports PCMag.com.
While there is a free version of Spotify, the Premium version eliminates commercials between songs and full, unlimited access to the library of 20 million songs.
The deal is only being offered for a limited time and will only run for 12 months. So, if you want Spotify for all four years of college, you’ll have to pay the full $10 a month for Spotify Premium after the first year.
You can sign up for the discounted Spotify here.
The deal comes as Spotify is now in a heated battle with Rdio, Beats Music and Pandora. The company is clearly hoping that a deal like this will entice younger listeners to stick with spotify beyond the first 12 months.
