Turner Broadcasting System founder and billionaire Ted Turner was admitted to a hospital for observation while in South America.
FOX411 has confirmed the news that Turner was hospitalized in Buenos Aires on Friday.
"While traveling in South America, Ted Turner was admitted to a local hospital for observation," said Turner Enterprises spokesperson Phillip Evans. "Given it is our policy not to comment on his personal health, no further details will be provided."
The Associated Press noted that workers at the San Carlos clinic, near his ranch in Argentina's Patagonia region, said that the 75-year-old was first treated there early Friday. However, he left that clinic after a few hours.
Argentine newspapers have reported that the philanthropist and media mogul was then taken to the hospital on his private jet to be operated on.
Turner founded the cable news station CNN in 1980. It was the first 24-hour cable news channel. Turner Broadcasting also includes other networks including TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies and the Cartoon Network.
