Ten people hospitalized after Boston train derails

Ten people were taken to the hospital after Boston’s Green Line train derailed from its tracks.

According to the New York Daily News, the train derailed near Fenway Park and most of the injuries reported were not serious. Nine of the 10 patients were passengers while one was a first responder who fell at the scene.

Spokesman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Joe Pesaturo told FOX 25 news that the first car of a two-car D train derailed just west of Kenmore Station.

That train appeared to have come off its rails and crashed into a wall where a pair of tracks crossed underground, while another subway car braked quickly to avoid a collision.

"Injuries were some people from derailed trolley and some from a 2nd trolley that hit brakes hard to avoid derailed trolley," the Boston Fire Department said in a tweet.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation and service has been suspended for the rest of the day.
