Three children were found inside a Northern California home, one shackled to the floor, and all three were nearly starved to death.
Authorities said that the two boys, ages 3 and 5, and the girl, 8, showed signs of physical and mental abuse; however, the 8-year-old girl showed the most extreme of the abuse. Authorities said that she was shackled to the floor so that she could not get any food, according to L.A. Times.
Eraca Dwan Craig, 31, and Christian Jessica Deana, 44, are the caregivers of the three children. Two were adopted, and one is the biological son of one of the women.
Authorities had to have the children taken to the hospital, where the girl had to stay for five days, according to the Associated Press.
Craig and Deana were making plans to leave when the police showed up. There was next to no food in the house, and it was filthy inside.
The young girl was deemed traumatized.
