Tina Fey now has an immensely successful and lucrative career, but she’s revealing how badly her worst audition went.
In a video for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Fey described the audition, which was for a McDonald’s commercial, was set at the fast food restaurant’s drive-thru.
"I could never book anything because I didn't look like anything," she explained, E! Online reports. "I had short hair with a perm on top, but I was young. I didn't look like a mom, I didn't look like a person—I just didn't look like anything."
For this particular commercial, she said while waiting for a pretty long time that having a huge scar on her face meant she likely wouldn’t book the gig.
"I have this big ole scar on my face, which I didn't realize was going to be featured prominently in my audition for McDonald's," she said.
She added after two and a half hours waiting to audition, "I was just like, ‘Hi, I'll have a Big Mac, and my scar will have an orange soda.' And I just left because they weren't going to give me that."
Back in 2008, Fey told Vanity Fair how she got the scar when she was 5 years old. She was playing in the yard in front of her home in Pennsylvania when a stranger came out of nowhere and cut her cheek, which resulted in the scar.
