ABC has announced that James Goldston will be the new president of ABC's news division. Goldston will be replacing Ben Sherwood, who will now oversee ABC and Walt Disney's entertainment-focused cable networks.
Variety reported that ever since it was announced that Sherwood would be moving up within the company, it was clear that Goldston was a top runner for the promotion within ABC.
In a recent interview Sherwood explained that he is always looking for talent and is thrilled with Goldston taking over as the president of the news division. "I look forward to seeing his leadership and ideas spread even more through the news division," said Sherwood.
Goldston's resume includes working on the Good Morning America, which has pulled ahead of NBC's Today in the ratings and is one of the reasons that Nightline saw a ratings increase after Ted Koppel left the show. He started working with GMA back in February of 2011, The New York Times added.
Goldston also worked with ITV and BBC News during his career.
