Amazon has added another highly popular television show to its instant streaming service. The company announced that it now has the rights to exclusively stream all eight seasons of Fox's 24.
Amazon Prime will also be showing the series 24: Live Another Day, which will be debuting May 5 on Fox, Variety reported. This announcement came shortly after Netflix said its rights to 24 expired April 1.
Under this deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, Amazon Prime will be the only online subscription home streaming service that can show all 192 episodes of the drama.
Prime has already gained the rights to CBS' popular Under the Dome and the upcoming Extant that will star Halle Berry, Deadline noted. Extant will be shown only four days after it airs on CBS.
The instant stream network has also just reached a deal to show FX's original series The Americans.
Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon, spoke about how important it is to bring new and original programming to fans along with classics like 24.
“24 has been extremely popular with Amazon customers over the years," Beale said. "Whether they are hard-core Jack Bauer fans or just discovering the series for the first time, Prime members are going to love catching up on the previous seasons of 24 as well as 24: Live Another Day."
