Greg Poehler, whose sister Amy Poehler stars on NBC's Parks and Recreation, will star in Welcome to Sweden, debuting this summer in the U.S.
In the television show, Poehler, who is new to television, plays Bruce Evans, an accountant who follows his girlfriend to Sweden without having a job or a clue where he’s going. The comedy is already having some success in Sweden, after its premiere three weeks ago on TV4. It has drawn 2 million viewers and has already been picked up for a second season, according to the Associated Press.
"I thought [breaking into Hollywood] was something you had to do early in life," Poehler said, according to the LA Times. "To be able to do this in middle age ... I'm so appreciative of the opportunity."
Amy Poehler is an executive producer on the show. She also created and wrote the show that was mostly shot in Sweden. Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Aubrey Plaza, and Gene Simmons will make guest appearances.
The U.S. version will debut on July 10 at 9PM.
