New York baker Dominique Ansel has revealed his newest elaborate dessert, the Waffagoto. Ansel is the same baker who created a sensation with the Cronut last year.
Ansel appeared on The Wendy Williams Show on Monday to first unveil the treat, which is waffle-shaped ice cream in a cup, notes Monsters And Critics. Hot maple syrup and coffee is then poured over the concoction and it melts, releasing tapioca pearls.
He told Williams that the treat will be available at his bakery starting next week. However, as The New York Daily News notes, those who attended the Taste of a Nation charity fundraiser on Monday night got an early taste. The event was organized by Share Our Strength.
The dessert was created specifically for the event and Ansel made 800 of them. After two hours, they were all gone.
When the dessert goes on sale at his bakery, each serving will cost $7.
In 2013, Ansel created a sensation with the Cronut, which is still a popular treat in New York City. Last month, he unveiled the milk and cookie shots at SXSW. These treats feature cookie-shaped cups filled with milk.
