Domino’s Pizza introduces fried chicken crust pizza (or something like that)

By Daniel S Levine,

The Domino’s Pizza chain has introduced a new product that is a bit tough to describe. The items are best described as pizza with pieces of fried chicken for crusts, but even that doesn’t fully capture the craziness of the new items.

They are really just clusters of breaded fried chicken bits topped with melted cheese and a variety of toppings. There are four varieties on the menu: Crispy Bacon & Tomato; Classic Hot Buffalo; Spicy Jalapeno Pineapple; and Sweet BBQ Bacon. Each item has 12 pieces of chicken and costs $5.99 each.

According to The Chicago Tribune, the chain said that it is part of a new initiative to be a real player in the chicken business. Domino’s chief marketing officer, Russell Weiner, said that the idea is “one of the most creative, innovative menu items we have ever had.”

Meanwhile, if you don’t like your chicken masquerading as pizza crust, you might like it acting as bread. In that case, KFC is bringing back the infamous Double Down sandwich, notes USA Today. That item features two pieces of fried chicken acting as bread for a bacon and cheese sandwich.
