‘Frozen’ reaches $400 million domestic mark

By Chelsea Lewis ,

Frozen will not thaw at the box office. The Disney animated feature film crossed the $400 million mark this weekend at the domestic box office.

Variety reported that this is the film's 23rd week in theaters.

In total, since the film was released, it has grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, which puts Frozen in the lead for the highest-grossing animated feature film of all time. When compared to all genres of movies, it is the sixth top earning film. Frozen comes behind Iron Man 3.

This is the sixth Disney movie to ever pass $400 million. The only other films to accomplish this include Marvel's The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, The Lion King and Toy Story 3.

Forbes reported that Frozen is also doing well since the film has been released for fans to own at home. The home video releases sold over 3.8 million copies in one day, and the film has made over $3.3 million since it was released for fans to watch at home.
