James Franco has finally spoken publicly about the rumors that he tied to pick up a 17-year-old over the Internet.
According to ABC News, the actor met teenager Lucy Clode outside of his Broadway show, Of Mice and Men. The two then began to talk on Instagram and Franco requested that the two get a hotel room together.
Franco explained on Live! with Kelly and Michael Friday morning that he has learned his lesson. “I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson,” Franco said.
Franco explained that everyone faces awkward experiences when they meet people, especially online. The fact that he’s a celebrity just publicizes the interactions even more.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Franco believes he is a model for others to see how powerful social media can be.
"It’s a way people meet each other today, but what I’ve learned is you don’t know who’s on the other end,” Franco said.
Ironically, Franco’s upcoming film Palo Alto, is about a soccer coach (played by Franco) who seduces an underage girl.
