Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong'o is the new celebrity ambassador for Lancôme.
Nyong'o burst onto the scene this year with her film 12 Years a Slave and has been taking red carpet events by storm. The 31-year-old actress follows many A-List former faces of Lancôme, such as Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Lily Collins and Kate Winslet.
"What appealed to me about Lancôme is that they're not dictating what beauty is," Nyong'o told WWD. "What they do supports something that already is -- and that was appealing to me, too. It's what drew me to them."
According to Vanity Fair, Nyong'o has talked about her dark complexion in the past, speaking of how she was self-conscious of her dark complexion, and how she wished she was pale because of the women on television.
She hopes that this new gig will open the doors for all women. "For the consumer at large, I think Lancôme has a range of products for every woman, and I think having me will expand people's understanding of, hopefully, what Lancôme stands for, who Lancôme is for."
