Warner Bros. announced on Tuesday that Magic Mike 2 is set for a 2015 theatrical release.
The sequel, titled Magic Mike XXL, to the surprise 2012 hit film Steven Soderbergh directed will be out on July 3, 2015, reports Deadline. No other film is currently slated for that date, though Terminator Genesis hits screens two days prior.
Magic Mike did quite well, grossing $113.7 million domestically and also creating an upcoming Broadway musical.
In late March, it was announced that the sequel really was in motion and would be directed by Greg Jacobs (Criminal, Wind Chill). He has worked with Soderbergh several times before, especially as a producer. He was an executive producer on Magic Mike.
Channing Tatum is set to return and reprise his role. He spoke with Gossip Cop backstage on Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards and said most of the cast is also expected to be back, though nothing is official yet.
Tatum also teased what was going to be in the film: "A s**t ton of ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie, on the face of the earth, ever again."
