Michael Cera and Kieran Culkin are set to take the stage in an upcoming production of Kenneth Lonergan’s 1996 play This Is Our Youth. The show will be starting this summer at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater. Following those performances, Cera and Culkin will head to Broadway for a September opening.
Cera is known for his work on Arrested Development and has starred in many feature films. Culkin is known for working on Igby Goes Down.
Anna D. Shapiro, who is currently directing James Franco and Chris O'Dowd in the stage version of Of Mice and Men, will be the director for the upcoming This Is Our Youth, Variety reported.
This will mark the Broadway debut for both Cera and Culkin. Tavi Gevinson will also be starring in This Our Youth. Both actors did appear in another production of the play in Sydney, Australia back in 2012.
This play has already drawn some big names such as Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Paquin.
The Chicago Tribune reported that this will be the first Lonergan play to be staged on Broadway. The show already has a large cult following.
