The best restaurants in the world were announced at the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards on Monday in London and Noma took the top prize.
The ceremony was attended by some of the world’s best chefs. Noma, located in Copenhagen, took the number one prize this year, according to The Telegraph. The restaurant is known for its avant-garde dishes and its local Danish ingredients.
According to CNN, Noma’s head chef, Rene Redzepi said, "In the last year (after the restaurant was awarded second place) my staff and I looked into each others' eyes and said 'let's just really really work hard.' We made a plan and said 'let's make this the best year we've ever had.'”
Other restaurants to be recognized this year include El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, Eleven Madison Park in New York and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London.
