Rumors have been circulating about Penelope Cruz becoming the next Bond girl in the upcoming film currently entitled, 24.
A leaked document from Sony said that the actress could play 007’s romantic interest in the movie. "At this stage no one at Sony will confirm it,” according to the Daily News.
A rep for Penelope said, ”Sorry, but it can only be a mistake. We’ve heard some rumors from the press, but there's absolutely no confirmation from us,” according to the Daily Mail.
Director Sam Mendes is slated to direct the next Bond movie. Cruz’s husband, Javier Bardem, starred as the villain Raoul Silva in the Bond film, Skyfall. Skyfall was directed by Sam Mendes and featured Daniel Craig and Naomie Harris.
Penelope Cruz won an Oscar in 2009 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She also appeared as Anna in the film To Rome with Love and will be seen as Magda in the upcoming film Ma Ma, directed by Julio Medem.
Shooting on the new James Bond film is expected to start in November.
