Authorities say that rapper Trick Daddy has been arrested on drug charges.
The rapper was arrested in South Florida on cocaine and possession of weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon. The convicted felon, whose real name is Maurice Young, cannot possess guns, according to the Miami Herald.
The Associated Press reports that officers stopped Young because of an expired driver’s license. Authorities had surveillance on Trick Daddy’s house and they obtained a search warrant for the house after Trick Daddy had been driving illegally. Deputies then discovered a handgun. The rapper previously had drugs and weapons felony convictions.
In addition to the drug charges, he was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and driving with a suspended license. No word yet from his legal team on a strategy regarding the arrest.
Trick Daddy recorded the albums Thugs Are Us, Back by Thug Demand and Finally Famous: Born a Thug, Still a Thug. The rapper also appeared in the film Just Another Day.
