AMC posts first photo of 'The Walking Dead' season five

By Daniel S Levine,

AMC has released the first photo from The Walking Dead’s fifth season. As expected, it doesn’t reveal much, other than that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes is in dire trouble again.

The image, posted by the network this afternoon, shows Rick with blood on his face and all over his right hand. It looks like he is peering out of the storage container that he and the rest of the main crew were locked up in at the end of season four.

In the season four finale, the group finally reunited after several episodes apart at Terminus. However, they discovered that Terminus was not the paradise they hoped it would be and were locked in a giant container.

The Walking Dead is easily the most-watched cable show on television right now. March’s season finale drew 15.7 million viewers and 10.2 million in the key 18-49 demographic.

AMC picked up The Walking Dead for a fifth season in October and said that showrunner Scott Gimple will stay continue overseeing the show. It is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman.
