AnnaLynne McCord reveals past abuse, rape and near suicide

AnnaLynne McCord has dropped a major bombshell in the July issue of Cosmopolitan, writing a revealing piece about past sexual abuse. After being raped at age 18, she said she considered suicide.

The Dallas star explained in the article that she was abused by her parents as a child, growing up in an extremely religious home. She was homeschooled by her mom and her dad was a nondenominational Christian pastor.

She said her “punishments were painful and ritualistic,” which was “all very confusing.”

Later in life, after she moved to Los Angeles, McCord said she was raped by a male friend who was staying the night. She suppressed her feelings about it, keeping it a secret until she filmed a scene in which her character was raped on 90210 a few years ago.

"My castmates thought I had done a great job playing the part. They had no idea that I had actually been sexually assaulted by someone I knew in real life,’ she explained.

Of the rape, she wrote, "At first, I felt so disoriented and numb, I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep. I wondered if I had done something to give him the wrong idea. I felt afraid of making him angry. Believe it or not, I didn't want to offend him."

In her early 20s after a fight with her then-boyfriend, she revealed she almost killed herself. “I didn’t fear death — it felt like a solution,” she wrote.

She ended it with some advice to others who have been through similar hardships in life - “You have a voice. Don’t put yourself in a box. Don’t let the polite lies of society silence you. Honestly, I would endure everything all over again — it has led me to my own revolution.”
