Billboard Music Awards hits rating high

The Billboard Music Awards took place last night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the event was one to remember. It was also a ratings high for the awards. This award show was the highest rated show for the past thirteen years.

Billboard reported that this years award show had an average audience of 10.5 million people. This is an 11 percent increase of last year's award show.

The most viewers tuned in from 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., during this time slot 11.2 million viewers tuned in.

This years award show featured some big name musicians including a duet from Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert and a Michael Jackson hologram. The show also featured a major flub from reality super star Kendall Jenner. She was supposed to introduce the up and coming Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer but instead introduced One Direction, CNN reported. "Now, we welcome One... Guys, I'm the worst reader," said Jenner on stage.

She later tweeted that she learned her lesson after the slip up.

The other main music competition for the awards was an NBC special which featured Coldplay. The special, "Coldplay: Ghost Stories" only averaged 1.7 million viewers.
