Bradley Cooper has undergone a major transformation to make his latest movie, American Sniper. One of his co-stars in the project says that the American Hustle star has been working out and has added 40 pounds of muscle.
“He put on like 40 pounds,” Nashville actor Eric Close told E! News about Cooper’s dramatic change. “He's really been working hard. He looks great. He's really taken on this character…He really takes this story personally and wants to do an honorable job for Chris' memory and for his family.”
Close’s statement was validated when new pictures of Cooper surfaced. He showed off a full beard and some added muscle needed to play the role of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

The project is something Cooper has hoped to get off the ground for over a year, especially after Kyle’s death in February 2013. It almost didn’t get started when Steven Spielberg dropped out, but Clint Eastwood stepped in and it looks like production is about to start.
Close will play a Defense Intelligence Agency in the film.
Cooper has been nominated for Oscars two years in a row, for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. His voice will be heard in Guardians of the Galaxy in August, as he plays Rocket Raccoon. He’s also just finished filming on an untitled film from director Cameron Crowe with Rachel McAdams.
