Singer Stevie Wonder and actor Robert Pattinson are celebrating their birthdays today.
Stevie Wonder, 64
Musician, singer-songwriter, record producer and instrumentalist Stevie Wonder turns 64 today. Wonder started as a child prodigy, and grew into one of the most talented and influential musicians of all time. Wonder has been blind since shortly after his birth, but that didn't stop him from becoming a talented musician, signing with Mowtown's Tamla label at 11 years old.
Wonder's most successful singles to date include "Superstition," "Sir Duke," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" and "I Just Called to Say I Love You." He has recorded more than 30 U.S. top ten hits, received 22 Grammy Awards, and has sold over 100 million albums and singles. Wonder is also known for his work as an activist for political causes, including his 1980 campaign to make Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday a holiday in the United States.
In 2008, Billboard magazine named Wonder No. 5 on the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists to celebrate the US singles chart's 50th anniversary. In 2009, Wonder was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
