Cleveland Browns sign WR Miles Austin

By Kyle Johnson,

The Cleveland Browns signed Miles Austin on Thursday as the team prepares for the likelihood that wide receiver Josh Gordon will be hit with a season-long suspension.

The terms of the deal have not been released yet.

According to ESPN, the 29-year-old two-time Pro Bowler was released in the off-season by the Dallas Cowboys after struggling with injuries.

Austin, who was with the Cowboys from 2006-13, caught only 24 passes for 244 yards this season. He also was kept out of the endzone the whole year. During his career, Austin has 301 receptions, 4,481 yards and 34 touchdowns, but after signing a six-year $54 million deal back in 2010, he struggled to stay on the field.

The move by the Browns isn't too surprising as their star receiver Gordon, who managed to lead the league with 1,646 receiving yards in 14 games, is facing a suspension. He failed a drug test, coming up positive for marijuana, putting the whole next season in jeopardy.

Receiver Nate Burleson is also recovering from a fractured left arm, forcing Cleveland to shore up the receiver position to give possible starter Johnny Manziel someone to throw to.
