Authorities have said that a Florida man killed his wife and children before turning the gun on himself inside a mansion belonging to former tennis player James Blake.
According to the New York Daily News, Darrin Campbell purchased fireworks, gas cans and gasoline in the days before he shot his family and set the Tampa-area home on fire.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Col. Donna Lusczynski said that the 49-year-old purchased the handgun used in the murder-suicide last year.
On Wednesday, the Guardian reported that firefighters were called to the upscale home around 6:00 a.m. after neighbors called about hearing an explosion. Fire officials uncovered the bodies of the deceased inside.
Campbell, his wife Kimberly and their teenage children Colin and Megan were found with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Blake, the retired tennis star who owns the property, said he was renting it out to the family for about a year. He was in Connecticut when the tragic crime occurred.
