Rock 'n' roll band Foo Fighters have announced that their eighth album will be released this fall. To celebrate this album, the band will be working with HBO to produce documentary series about the recording process and life on the road.
In a statement released by the band and HBO, they explained that the series would focus on how they recorded the album. It would be directed by front man Dave Grohl.
The band members focused on eight cities to help with the creation of this eighth record: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and New York.
At each city, the group recorded a song at a legendary studio that was integral into the unique history of the city they arrived in. The songs feature local musicians helping with the recording process and music.
Recording the songs was a unique experiment for the rock group as well. Grohl held off on writing down any lyrics until the last day of each session in each city. This was in order to be inspired by the entire experience in each location.
This HBO series will also be coinciding with the Foo Fighters' 20th anniversary. An official release date for this album has not yet been announced.
