Fox orders 10 more episodes of John Mulaney's 'Mulaney'

By Will Ashton,

In its first comedy order during its pre-upfront week for the fall television season, Fox has decided to give its upcoming multi-camera sitcom Mulaney ten more episodes for its first season.

Created by and staring comedian John Mulaney, Deadline reports that the new show will be joining The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl in the network's comedy line-up.

Additionally, Mulaney will be joining Last Man on Earth with Will Forte and Weird Loners with Ugly Betty's Becki Newton as Fox's new straight-to-series half-hour sitcoms.

However, these three may be the only comedy pilots Fox is picking up for series.

Deadline notes that Fox executives aren't as happy with thrit comedy pilot selections as they are with their dramas. Considering how little attention has been given to the comedy front aside from these three, it seems likely that these rumors are true. Although, among the comedy pilots, Sober Companion is among the most likely to be pick up for series.

Originally set for NBC last season, before it was passed up in May, Fox picked the show up for redevelopment last October with a straight-to-series six-episode order, according to Laugh Spin.
