As expected, Harry Connick Jr. will be doing another season of American Idol. The singer confirmed the news himself this morning. It is widely expected that Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez will be back as well.
Connick was on Live! With Kelly & Michael Wednesday and was asked if he would be doing the 14th season of Fox’s singing competition. “I’ll be back,” he replied, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Later, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Connick said that he has enjoyed working with Urban and Lopez, as there has been an obvious chemistry at the judge’s table this season.
“It’s really tough to fake that,” Connick explained to THR. “It’s live TV, and we spend a lot of time with each other from the audition stage to backstage to traveling. They are great to be with.”
Connick’s comments come after Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly said that it was likely that all three will return next season, as is host Ryan Seacrest. Even though the show’s ratings are shrinking, Reilly is confident that the show can live on, even if it takes up less slots on the Fox schedule next year.
Idol’s 13th season is down to three contestants and will continue on tonight and Thursday.
