Jessica Chastain attached to second season of HBO's 'True Detective' (Report)

By Gina DiFalco,

There have been many high profile names attached to the second season of HBO’s True Detective, and Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain is the latest to succumb to the rumors.

The first season of the show was an explosive hit for the network, averaging 11 million viewers. It starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Back in March, rumors started surfacing that Brad Pitt would take over.

According to The Nerdist, Chastain has been asked to join Season 2 in a leading role but she has not made up her mind yet. Chastain’s rep wouldn’t comment on the story.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto reportedly wants a female cast, so Pitt’s name remains up in the air. The show is based on the collection of short stories written by Robert W. Chambers called The King in Yellow.

Chastain has made a name for herself in the Hollywood elite since Zero Dark Thirty and The Help. She stars in Christopher Noaln's upcoming film Interstellar.
